Fan theories are abundant in the Game of Thrones fandom, and we have all kinds of them, right from downright crazy, to believable, and some that have even been proved true. Reddit is always the mother-lode of these fan theories, and the latest one is about Jon Snow, and it talks about how Jon might discover his true parentage. You might remember from the big reveal last season, that Jon is actually the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhegar Targaryen, which had been a long standing fan theory before it finally got confirmed.

Redditor jamieandclaire says that Jon will discover his true parentage in the Winterfell crypts. According to the theory, Jon will find his true parentage inscribed in a tomb when he goes down to visit the tomb of Ned Stark, which he finds empty. He will apparently then go deeper into the crypt. It continues :

“His finds his way is blocked by rocks and rubble from the collapse. He considers going back, but something catches his eye beyond the obstruction. He begins pulling at stones, and sees another tomb, prepared and empty. Clambering over the debris, he walks to the tomb and holds out the torch in the darkness, wiping away the dust from the slab.”

Jon will apparently find his parentage on this slab. The Redditor explained this by saying that Ned wanted to honor Lyanna without risking accidentally revealing Jon’s identity, which is why he had a tomb built for him in the deeper levels of the crypt.

This theory actually quite adds up, with Jon being known to have dreams where he is placed in this particular setting, in the books. He describes it saying :

“And then I find myself in front of the door to the crypts. It’s black inside, and I can see the steps spiraling down. Somehow I know I have to go down there, but I don’t want to. I’m afraid of what might be waiting for me.”

The reveal will also definitely have to have a young Ned Stark, which will probably mean that we’ll get to see more from the Tower of Joy. However, we can’t be fully sure until we see it.

What do you think? Is this how Jon will find out that he’s part Dragon, in addition to being part Wolf? Or do you have theories of your own? Tell us in the comments, below!
