The Game of Thrones fandom is huge, and as such the franchise has expanded to cover a lot of different areas. Merchandises never fail to gather money for fandoms which are as big, and HBO seems to be consistent on selling Game of Thrones merchandise, especially alcoholic beverages, and more specifically, wine. It makes sense, considering how the show has a lot of wine being drunk, as it is. We have previously seen HBO team up with Ommegang Brewery, to release Game of Thrones beer, and recently, with Vintage Wine Estates, to announce a new line of Game of Thrones wines, and now we’re hearing that they will go on sale this month!
The line-up includes three varieties, a Chardonnay, a proprietary red blend, and a reserve-style Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines have been formulated by Bob Cabral, an accomplished winemaker, who had been named the Winemaker of the Year in 2011 by Wine Enthusiast. He’s a big fan of Game of Thrones, himself :
“I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, and these wines capture the complexity of the drama. But the wines also have great pedigree. We source grapes from premier vineyard sites and use the finest winemaking techniques to create wines of incredible richness and texture.”
The three variants are representative of the three houses. The Golden Chardonnay is assigned to House Lannister, represented by a Golden Lion, while House Targaryen gets the Red Blend, with the Three-Headed Dragon. Both of them are priced at $19.99. The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is assigned to House Stark, represented by the Direwolf, and will cost $49.99. The Chardonnay and the Red Blend went on sale on March 13, and the Cabernet Sauvignon will be available for purchase on March 20. These products are almost always made in limited stocks, so make sure you don’t wait too long. You can buy the Game of Thrones wines on the official website, here. The wines will be available in stores from April. Here’s a close-up of all the 3 beautiful bottles.
