The Game of Thrones franchise is quite big, and as you would expect, the books have a lot of editions. One of the more interesting ones are the digital enhanced editions of the books, by Random House and Apple. The enhanced editions come with a lot of added stuff like illustrations, which include maps, and footnotes and audio. Four of the five books : A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, and A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, were already available on iTunes, and the iBooks version of the fifth one, A Dance with Dragonsis now available for pre-order.
According to a report by The Mac Observer, A Dance with Dragons Enhanced Edition was added to the iTunes library for pre-order. The enhanced edition comes with a bunch of features to justify the tag. You get maps to help you track where characters are, as chapters progress, footnotes from the author, George R. R. Martin, parts of texts read by Roy Dotrice who played Hallyne the pyromancer, a lot of illustrations, and an appendix full of family trees, and house sigils.
The release of the book is set for March 30. To be able to read the enhanced edition, for now, you’ll need to have an iOS version 4.3.3 and later device with the iBooks app version 1.3.1 or later , or a Mac with iBooks 1.0 or later and OS X 10.9 or later. Priced at $11.99 on the iTunes store, these books are certainly worth every penny. Go pre-order A Dance of Dragons Enhanced Edition for iBooks, here.
Talking about the books, we might finally get the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, this year, but there hasn’t been a hundred percent confirmation on that, yet. On the other hand, Season 7 of the show will premiere in the summer, to which we are all looking forward to!
