Game of Thrones has had a spectacular cast over the years : one of the reasons the show has been such a huge success. It has taken in new actors and made them famous, and it has added another feather in the cap of a few veteran actors, as well. The show kills off even major characters with ease, which means that quite a lot of actors tend to exit the show pretty quickly, and move on to some pretty big projects. One of the most recently dead character, is Margaery Tyrell. Natalie Dormer, who played Margaery, is now all set to star in the TV remake of Picnic At Hanging Rock.
For those of you who don’t know or remember, Picnic At Hanging Rock is a 1975 Australian movie, starring Anne‑Louise Lambert, among others. The movie was based on a book, and is now being remade into a TV drama miniseries, starring Natalie Dormer. Australian TV giant Foxtel announced the news, and Natalie will be playing the role of Mrs. Hester Appleyar, the English headmistress.
The series will start filming in Victoria by the end of February, and while the full cast hasn’t been announced yet, there are some notable actors who are already in on the project. Yael Stone from Orange Is The New Black, and Sibylla Budd of Winners And Losers, both Australian actresses, have been confirmed to be a part of the cast.
The storyline explores the events that unfold after three schoolgirls and a teacher go missing on Valentine’s Day in 1900. The miniseries will have six episodes. FremantleMedia Australia will be producing it, and has expressed the desire to market it globally, which is the obvious choice, given that the cast is already star-studded.
In the meantime, Game of Thrones will return with Season 7 in summer 2017, without Natalie Dormer, this time. So if you have been keeping up with Natalie even after her exit from Game of Thrones, you might need to wait a little longer, because Picnic at Hanging Rock will probably arrive much later this year.
