The 74th Golden Globe Awards ceremony was an amazing evening, as always, but it seemed like Hollywood isn’t still done roasting Donald Trump. Trump is set to swear-in to the office of the President of the United States on the 20th of January, something he won fairly, if you check the rules of the game, but looks like Hollywood isn’t going to let go of it so soon. Not only did Meryl Streep‘s acceptance speech for her award focus on Trump; Jimmy Fallon, the host for the evening, dedicated a segment of his monologue to Trump bashing, more importantly, the part which was about Game of Thrones : Fallon compared Trump to King Joffrey Baratheon.
Fallon had already said that he would be making Donald Trump jokes at the Globes, and he started right off with them in his starting monologue itself. At the very beginning, his teleprompter broke down, leaving him hanging to improvise, but he got it back soon, and then he said that the Globes were “one of the few places left where America still honors the popular vote” – a jab at Trump for not being able to surpass Hillary in popular vote in the 2016 elections. Check out the clip, below :
Fallon said, comparing Trump to King Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones :
“What would it be like if King Joffrey had lived?
Well, in 12 days we’re going to find out.”
That got quite the chuckle from the crowd. Kidding about how Trump wasn’t able to manage the scheduling of A-list stars for his swearing-in ceremony, Fallon referenced Meryl Streep’s film Florence Foster Jenkins, where she plays the worst opera singer in the world, saying :
“Even she turned down performing at Trump’s inauguration.”
There were a few more jokes along the same lines.
Well, Joffrey never promised to make Westeros great again, just saying! Talk to us in the comments, below!
