Game of Thrones really nailed it with Season 6, surpassing the quality of all previous seasons, and neatly tying up the loose ends just in time for the arrival of Winter. The season was not just entertaining, but also very well made, which is the reason it has been having a good run at awards nominations this season. We had previously reported that Game of Thrones had been nominated for The Best Drama at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which were held today. Game of Thrones, however, lost to Netflix’s The Crown.
The full list of nominees was as follows :
The Crown (Netflix)
Game Of Thrones (HBO)
Stranger Things (Netflix)
This Is Us (NBC)
This was the fourth time Game of Thrones found itself in this list, with the first nomination coming right in its first season, and the rest coming every season since season 4. Despite this, the show never managed to win a Golden Globe.
We live in the golden era of Television, and as such, it’s not much of a comment on one show being considerably better or worse than another, as anybody who has watched these shows will know that all the shows are equally as good, and decisions like these boil down to the technicalities.
Game of Thrones has previously waited for an Emmy similarly, which it finally won for Season 5, and consequently for Season 6. Considering how every season of this series is better than the last one, we are hopeful that Game of Thrones will manage to bag at least one, or maybe even two Golden Globes, before it bids us farewell.
