Game of Thrones, over the years, has had a fantastic cast, and continues to add newer cast members which are just as good. One of the most interesting things you can ever run into, as far as screen fandoms are concerned, are audition tapes. Giving you a wild insight into the raw and initial making of an actor as a particular character of a fandom you love, audition tapes are priceless.
While Game of Thrones waits out another semester before it returns to us in the summer of 2017, we have had quite some material to live off of, and now we have some more. The audition tape from Kristian Nairn’s first audition for the part of Hodor, has now surfaced. The beginnings of Kristian’s Hodor can be seen in this video, which has him saying his one liner dialogue, and showing off his strength, while aiding a fill-in Bran get around on his shoulder.
Watch the Game of Thrones audition tape featuring Kristian, below :
As you can see, Kristian’s Hodor seems no different in the audition than he did in the series. With his typical Hodor walk, which he says is quite like his real life walk, to lifting a really heavy table with relative ease, Kristian does it all. He also seems to carry the Bran-replacement kid with ease, despite the face that he seems heavier than Isaac Hempstead Wright was, back when the series started.
There’s also the audition snippet reel from the auditions of other actors, which is quite an interesting watch, too. Check it out, below :
