We have all seen the rise and fall, and rise again, of Cersei Lannister, with Season 6 having developed her character the most, yet. The end of the season placed her in a position of power, but we have all been wondering since : How long will she exactly reign? Everybody seems to be coming for the throne, and there is hardly anybody who doesn’t want to see Cersei dead. Lena Headey, the actress who portrays Cersei in Game of Thrones, talked a bit about where Cersei might be heading, and more, in an interview with Mashable. Read on!
Talking about how she plays Cersei, Lena said :
“I don’t play her as a villain. I don’t set out to do that consciously, I just play a woman who is a survivor and will do exactly what a man would do — which is, you know, murder somebody when you’re in a war. Maybe just not directly.”
When asked whether Cersei might get a redemption, Headey said :
“I think that would ruin it.”
Lena also said that Cersei does everything needed to stay in a position of power.
Headey is also an advocate for Syrian refugees, and working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She recently teamed up with photographer Tara Todras Whitehill to produce a photography series titled “It Could Be Us”, showing the hardships these refugees face. Talking about the current state of the world, she said :
“I think it’s all worrying, do you know what I mean? I think the position we’re in right now, the world over is worrying. I don’t particularly see any sort of great, strong humanitarian leaders amongst us at the moment.”
Well, Cersei might not get a redemption, but at least Lena Headey is doing her bit in making the world a better place.
