Game of Thrones bags two Writer’s Guild Awards nominations

Game of Thrones is one of the most famous, and loved TV series ever made, and thus is no stranger to awards. While the production is filming for Season 7, The Writer’s Guild Awards announced its nominations, and Game of Thrones has been nominated in two categories. You can check out the full list of nominations, here.

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 19th, 2017. Game of Thrones will fight against its HBO sibling, Westworld, the Netflix newbie Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, and The Americans, in the Drama series category. The second nomination is for Episodic Drama, for the last episode of Season 6, “The Winds of Winter”, going up against an episode of Shameless, one of This Is Us, and two episodes from Better Call Saul.

Game of Thrones fans had guessed Jon Snow's real parents 20 years ago!

HBO has received quite a few nominations this year for shows like Silicon Valley, a favorite of ours, Westworld, which seems to have become an instant classic, Veep, and more.

The interesting part to remember is that Game of Thrones has been nominated 7 times for Writer’s Guild Awards, before this year, but has never won. Let’s hope that it wins this time around! Do you think Game of Thrones will finally bag a Writer’s Guild Award? Tell us in the comments, below!
