With the Game of Thrones season 7 filming going on in Spain and Northern Ireland this week, casting notices are also being issued simultaneously. We’re aware that Game of Thrones has cast a few new actors this year, and we have news that another actor has recently been cast. Irish actor Philip O’Sullivan has been cast for the part of a Citadel Maester, according to the actor’s agency CV, which says the following:
“Philip most recently wrapped filming the role of Citadel Maester on season 7 of the HBO series GAME OF THRONES.”
The character’s name is not clear at the moment but we can assume that this Maester might be significant for some part with Samwell Tarly, who was last seen in the library of Oldtown. You might know Philip from his recurring roles in Vikings and The Tudors.
In other news, a character from season 6 is set to return for season 7, that of the Dothraki warrior Qhono. He was last seen when Daenerys burned down the Khals in episode 4 of season 6. Since Dany has now got the entire Dothraki horde with her for her invasion of King’s Landing, it is quite obvious that she would have some of the lesser known leaders playing significant parts. The actors, most of whom are now in Spain, were recently visiting the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and they posted a picture of them together, where actor Staz Nair, who plays Qhono was also present.
Nair’s part will be recurring as it has been reported, but we hope to find out exactly what he will be doing in season 7.
