Game of Thrones is surrounded by a lot of rumours, and more so, the book series it is based on, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin. Martin’s next book from the series, The Winds of Winter, is yet to be released, and even though there has been no official announcement of when it will be coming out, rumours continue to erupt all the time. With sites like Amazon France creating a placeholder page for people to reserve their copies on a specified date, to ISBN numbers being allotted to the book by leading publishers, there is no end to these rumours.
Fans are getting overly excited upon these rumours that don’t seem to rest, but now we’ve just been graced with an official statement by Martin’s American publisher Random House to EW.
Here’s the statement:
“As his publisher, we support George RR Martin as he works hard to finish The Winds of Winter. Any on-sale dates currently listed online for the novel are incorrect. Once we have a publication date for The Winds of Winter, the world will know. Any on-sale dates currently listed online for the novel are incorrect.”
Another publishing house, Harper Collins, also said, “Nothing has been finalized regarding the publication or the date.”
Well, now that the rumours have been put to rest by the publishers themselves, we can safely return to our mundane lives and wait for more news.
