Game of Thrones has gone on to be one of the most popular shows on the planet, and as the numbers keep telling us, the most pirated show, too. We have seen the show’s episodes and plot leak consistently since Season 5, and while it’s all fun for us fans to get to know stuff beforehand, there is no doubt that the whole routine must have been a headache for HBO, and nothing else.
After Season 7 faced a lot of leaks, with the full plot having leaked beforehand, and multiple episodes leaking in between, HBO seems to have chosen a new way to go about doing things: They will film multiple endings to the show’s finale. Read on!
HBO’s President of Original Programming, Casey Bloys recently spoke at the Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, and talked about HBO’s plans to handle Season 8 leaks, reports The Morning Call. He said :
“I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens. You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”
That could actually work, unless of course, all of them end up leaking somehow. He went on to say :
“Finales are tough. If you think about, Six Feet Under, well that was a pretty good finale. But if you think about Seinfeld, if you think about The Sopranos, if you think about Breaking Bad, everybody has an opinion about how a show should end.”
The filming multiple endings solutions has been done previously by AMC for Breaking Bad, and HBO themselves did it for The Sopranos, so it would make sense to do it for Game of Thrones. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
